The Progress of Bologna Process

 How is the Progress?

 Bologna Process is basically managed in  3 levels;  international, national and institutional. The international level is Bologna Follow-Up Group which is responsible with following and observing the progress of the Process. Bologna Follow-Up Group is constructed in Prag at European Ministers Meeting, 2001 with the aim of following the improvements and decisions. It constitutes the representer of the nations which are the member of the process. Moreover, European Commission, Council of Europe, European University Association, The National Unions of Students in Europe, European Associations of Institutions in Higher Education and UNESCO are attended BFUG as advisors.  In general, the task of the board of directors (BFUG Boards) is to direct the process successfully and to follow and coordinate the applications of the process. With the methods need to be followed, every following 2 years, including the ministers who are responsible for the higher education Ministry Conference is held in order to decide the plans and strengthen the strategies. The conferences were held  at 1999 in Bologna, at 2001 in Prag, at 2003 in Berlin, at 2005 in Bergen, at 2007 in London, at 2009, Leuven and at 2010 in Budapest . Additionaly,
in order to solve the problems and manage the hardships of the application of the aims – the aims which are decided and published during and after the Ministry Conferences, seminars-  workshops, meetings are arranged in Europe. At the national level the Bologna Process is managed by high education Ministries, national rectors, conferences, student committees, national university unity, quality guarantee institutions and institutes. At the institutional level the Bologna Process is managed by higher educational Institutions, faculties, students and lecturers.

Bologna Follow-Up Group – BFUG

Countries that are the member of Bologna Process, European Commission representative, Council of Europe, European University Association, The National Unions of Students in Europe, European Assciation of Institutions in Higher Education, United Nations Education Science and Culture Organisation are the members of Bologna Follow-Up Group as an advisor. The Bologna Follow-Up Group was constructed with the decision taken at 2001 Prag European Ministry Conference.

The main task of BFUG, responsible for the improvement and coordination of the Bologna Process, is following the progress of the process and taking the precautions about the tasks. Bfug is constructed with board of directors and secretariat: To enhance the process progress successfully, to follow, observe and coordinate the application of the programs.

 

BFUG Board of Directors

Constructed for supporting the activities of Bfug, The tasks of Bfug Board of Directors are
listed below:


  • Tosupply support in order to actualize the Bologna activities,

  • Tohelp other new members who aim to reach Bologna Process expectations,

  • To coordinate the requirements and assessment of the situation of the preparation
    stage,

  • BFUG members and the people who are specialized in certain specific areas and chosen by BFUG construct Working Groups,

  • To manage and control the next preparation stage.

To actualize the aims of Bologna Process, BFUG can be charged with the duty for
the other topics of the Board of Directors if it is needed.

 

Secretariat

The tasks of Secretariat:

- To manage the works for the next Ministry Conference,

- To manage the works that are given by BFUG and Boards of Directors,

- To actualize the task about the application of the programs that are under the responsibility of BFUG and Boards of Directors.
